Bishop Jesse Gavin

Gavin Bishop Jesse N. Gavin is a native of Erie, PA the youngest of four children to the late Deacon Buford and Mother LeAnna Gavin. He is married to the former Ms. Sandra Harvey of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, and is the father of three lovely children, Jesse II, Colin, and Michaele Ann.
Bishop Gavin is a product of the Erie School District, graduating from Tech Memorial High School in 1972. He also attended both Edinboro and Gannon Universities, majoring in Business Administration. He Holds a Masters of Religious Arts Degree in Theology which he received from the Jacksonville Theological Seminary in 1999.
Bishop Gavin confessed his calling to the ministry, and was licensed to preach the Gospel on July 2, 1984, at his home church Morning Star Baptist Church, under the tutelage of Reverend Amos Goodwine, Sr. He was ordained three years later on July 18, 1987, at Morning Star.
Bishop and Lady Gavin came to the Greater Calvary Baptist Church wherein he accepted the call to pastor and was installed on August 28, 1988, When he came to Greater Calvary, there were less than 70 people on the membership roster, with virtually no assets other than the church building. Within three years of his arrival at Greater Calvary, the church membership grew to such a number that the church body had to start looking for a larger place of worship and now has a membership of over 1000.
Bishop Gavin became affiliated with the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship under the direction of International Presiding Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr., in 1993. He was then given the task of overseeing the State of Pennsylvania in the Fellowship. In 1996, Overseer Gavin was consecrated to the Office of Bishop in the Lord’s Church. In January of 1998 he was again elevated and now serves on the Bishops Council as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Bishop, presiding over the States of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia and the great District of Columbia.
With all of the accomplishments that Bishop Gavin has achieved none supersedes the life he lives before the people of God and the message that he preaches to all men, everywhere.
